TSM Server 5.2.7.0 TSM Client 5.2.2.0 Host O/S AIX 5.3 I have an AIX 5.3 host that has backed up an application installed JAVA JRE that needs to do a restore of said JRE. The application programmer has actually restored the directory structure and as documented the 5 symbolic links in the directory structure are backed up and restored as plain files and directories (documented in TSM client manual).
Anyway - the application using the restored JRE will not function, apparently there is some difference due to the actual directories/files being there versus the original symlinks. If I remove the 5 target of the symlinks and recreate them as symbolic links - then the application using the restored JRE will function correctly. Anyone ever seen anything like this? Should I just teach my programmers that it is their responsibility to manage symbolic links after a restore?
