W are using TSMExplorer (www.s-iberia.com). TSMExplorer and TSMExplorer Agent for Windows and Unix allow to collect very detailed information about clients (a few seconds per client node). Very useful report gives number of cores for each node, including IBM logical partitions and micro-partitions. For micro-partitions it gives number of cores like 1.7, 2.3, etc.

Search on "processors" in the List archives, finding such threads as http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg72508.html . The TSM client doesn't try to query the number of processors.
