Yes, we cannot connect to TSM server 1500 port interface (for all IPs), we can access for example the Web interface (port 1580). And we DOWN or DETACH the last NIC, we can connect to TSM port 1500.
We didn't had the time to do longer tests, because as we discovered the problem, we thought what was the last change on the servers, and it was the NIC addition and we disable it ... and it worked on both servers. We asked the network and UNIX admins to check the systems, an they give us the OK, so we did one more test on the less important server and it did it again (but this time it took 30 min). I know, it sounds weird, and ... yes it is. We have 2 TSM servers ver 5.5.2.0 on AIX (one server is 5300-12-01-1016, the other is 5300-06-01-0000). We have a Gigabit network connection to every firewall zone (and 10 Gbit to the servers zone), so the backups don't go through the firewalls. We have been requested to backup a server and find out that the server is on a new firewall zone. So we did request an IP and ethernet connection for both of our main TSM servers. When the ethernet was set up, after some time (it differs, from 5 to 30 minutes) we cannot longer connect to the TCP port 1500 (backup port). We are testing from the server with "telnet localhost 1500", we also tested with IPs. The ssh, ftp, telnet programs are working fine and the "netstat -an" show the port as LISTEN. As soon as we DOWN or DETACH the ethernet, the port begins to work. We have this problem on 2 TSM server. In one of these servers the new ethernet is the 10th, and on the is 11th (I don't know if it matters). Do you have encountered something like that ?
