Look at the syntax for DELETE FILESPACE. The default is TYPE=ALL, which means it deletes both BACKUP and ARCHIVE files (after prompting).
If you want to delete backups from the filespace without deleting the archives, you have to do: Delete filespace nodename filespacename type=backup -----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Howard Coles Sent: Friday, January 21, 2011 2:38 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ADSM-L] Archives and backups Ladies and gents, Here's a question. If I create an archive and set it to 3650 days retention, from a particular file server. Then after the archive is created, If I go in and delete the file space from the backup side will that also delete the archive? My understanding from what I've read and known in the past is that it will not (as the two are managed as separate entities backups are managed file by file and the archive as a package). However I did some backup file space clean up the other day, knowing we had a good archive, and now the archive is gone. I've done this before, without these kinds of results, so the follow up would be, what would make an archive just disappear?
