I haven't used them in a while but there may be a mtlib command that could check to see if the 3494 still shows the tape mounted in the drive after you get the ANR8468I message.
-----Original Message----- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Prather, Wanda Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2011 2:14 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ADSM-L] 3494 tape dismount problem TSM 5.5.2 on Windows 3494 classic (aka "old") tape library with TCP/IP connection for the robot, four fibre-connected 3592-E05 drives. A couple of times a week, a tape gets left in drive 4; always that drive, different cartridges. I say "left" instead of "stuck", as there are no dismount errors in TSM, no FID codes on the drive. The CE has replaced the drive twice, so it isn't the drive mechanism. Firmware on library and drives is up to date. Can't be the software drivers, as it only affects the 1 drive. Sequence of events is below; No dismount error, but subsequent mounts fail because there is a tape in the drive. Am I correct that since the ANR8468I indicates a successful dismount, TSM must have gotten a "dismount completed" message back from the library over TCP/IP? If so that leaves the problem in the robotics, and eliminates any issues with the HBA or fibre cables... What say you classic 3494 owners out there?
