Hi Gary, just "su" to the instance user (i.g. su - tsminst1), next locate file dsmserv.opt. it may reside in the directory you are in right now, but it ma be located in another subdirectory . cd in that subdirectory and run /opt/ti.../dsmserv
If that error persists, you need to add the directory path to db2. 1. run db2start (all commands executed as instance user). 2. check for instances known by DB2: run /opt/tivoli/tsm/db2/instance/db2ilist if your instance is listed check for database path: 3. run "db2 list database directory" If there is no entry like "/home/tsminst1" or an entry that points to a subdirectory that does not exist in your home directory. 4. run "db2 update dbm cfg using dftdbpath instance_directory" run db2stop command and retry to start the TSM server in the foreground. (please refere to TSM server installation guide, look for chapter 3 "configuring the server instance manually" and chpter 10 "uninstalling and reinstalling..." for additional help / details to the commands needed) best regards Ullrich Mänz Data Center Services FRITZ & MACZIOL Software und Computervertrieb GmbH Ludwig Str. 180D, 63067 Offenbach, Germany Mobil +49 170 7678 434 Fax: +49 69 3801 3500 10 Web: http://www.fum.de Amtsgericht Ulm, Handelsregister-Nummer: HRB 1936 Geschäftsführer: Heribert Fritz, Frank Haines Inhaber: Imtech N.V., Gouda, Niederlande Von: "Lee, Gary" <[email protected]> An: [email protected] Datum: 03.07.2012 21:36 Betreff: [ADSM-L] trouble starting tsm server 6.2.2 Gesendet von: "ADSM: Dist Stor Manager" <[email protected]> Tsm server 6.2.2 running on redhat RHEL 6. I can log into the instance owner user id, go to the instance directory and start ssmserv directly. Cannot start from the supplied startup script. The message I get is "unable to locate home directory for user tsminst1" Tsminst1 is the instance owner, its home dir is listed in /etc/passwd file, and I can log into it just fine and am dropped into its home directory "/home/tsminst1" Where do I go from here?
