See documentation for the 'reconcile volumes' command. This command will report the kind of inconsistencies you suspect, and offers the option of fixing them to at least some extent; the access status of the missing volumes will be changed to 'unavailable'. I don't think this by itself will trigger recopying of the data to new volumes.
