When to dsmserv removedb?

I have found multiple conflicting documents.

For TSM V6,
if you are going to do
dsmserv restore db,
under what circumstances should you do
dsmserv removed TSMDB1 first?

Specifically trying to figure if this is necessary when restoring TSM DB at a 
DR site, i.e. to different hardware.
