Now that we are off our last 5.5 server, the next project is upgrading the 6.1 server to 6.3.4.
Since the hardware is getting long-in-the-tooth, we want to move it to a new box as well. The book I found that has instruction on upgrading from V6.1 to V6.3+ has some confusing instructions (basically doing all kinds of DB2 queries/lists and saving the info) but then just installing 6.3 using the wizard? I especially love the nebulous statement "*Correct any database errors that are detected during the installation process.*" and "*The wizard automatically corrects some errors in the database during the upgrade to V6.3 or later and DB2 V9.7. You might need to correct other errors manually. *" My question is, since I am moving to new hardware, can I simply install 6.3.4 on the new server and restore from the DB backup of the 6.1 server or do I still have to go through some kind of conversion/migration process due to the different DB2 levels? -- *Zoltan Forray* TSM Software & Hardware Administrator Virginia Commonwealth University UCC/Office of Technology Services [email protected] - 804-828-4807 Don't be a phishing victim - VCU and other reputable organizations will never use email to request that you reply with your password, social security number or confidential personal information.
