Getting it to not even look at the rest of the F drive probably isn't going
to happen...
And I'm old and more command line oriented but here it goes...

Depending on how many other directories there are at the root level of F you
could have in your dsm.opt file:
SUBDIR YES
DOMAIN F:
exclude.dir F:\oneyoudontwanttobackup\
exclude.dir F:\anotheroneyoudontwanttobackup\
etc...
include F:\foldertobackup\...\*

and that would cause them to be skipped with one comparison at the top
directory level.

If you do a
SUBDIR YES
DOMAIN F:
Exclude F:\...\*
Include F:\foldertobackup\...\*

That would get you where you want to be but if there are 2 million objects
in other directories, then each backup will do the 2M+ comparisons excluding
anything not in your included folder...

The above would all be to set you up to do a command line:

dsmc incr

hope this helps a little...
and sorry for not much from a GUI point of view, just haven't found much use
for it over the past 18 years

Subject: [ADSM-L] Include/exclude confusion

Hello,

I want to understand something and what I read online is
confusing.

On a specific machine I want to back up a folder on "F:" but nothing else

currently under the backup tab of the GUI i do NOT have "F:" selected,
then under include/exclude I have "INCLUDE "F:\foldername" STANDARD"

Will this configuration skip all of "F:" except for the foldername I have
specified in the include? Some things I have read show that "F:" will be
completely ignored even with my include because I do not have it checked
under backup.

I only want to backup "F:\foldername" on F: and I do not even want the
client to look at the rest of "F:"
