That raised almost as many questions as it answered, at least for me. In
particular, I always hearken back to Dianne Hackborn's epic
StackOverflow answer regarding measuring memory usage
(http://stackoverflow.com/a/2299813/115145), which leads off with this
warning:

"Note that memory usage on modern operating systems like Linux is an
extremely complicated and difficult to understand area. In fact the
chances of you actually correctly interpreting whatever numbers you get
is extremely low."

So, for example, the page you link to refers to "avg_pss", which
presumably is average PSS, but then... averaged over what? The process
lifetime? The 3/6/12/24 hour window, literally? The time shown at the
top of the Process Stats window, which may not necessarily resemble the
3/6/12/24 hour value? Something else?

Having numbers beats having no numbers. However, having undocumented
numbers is like giving a hammer to a two-year-old... :-)
