Sorry, this is a fou-bar of my own doing. I did not stress enough the focus of the question.
I'm _not_ focusing about the issue of IUI. What I'm saying is this: There are now two _new_ technologies to build stand alone NON-internet applications: A. The one year old Winform technology B. The few month old _hosted_ ASP.Net Cassini technology, which involves running an ASP.Net web server on the user's computer. AFAIK the application is a web "site" running on the user's computer. The "programming" part is done on the user' computer (no Internet connection required) through ASP.Net (and not through scripting). So, what I really wanted to discuss was considerations on the merits and pitfalls of both technologies. My interest in this lies in my intuitive feeling that HTML applications are cooler and easier on the user, and my unhappiness with solutions using the Web browser control (shdocvw.dll, if I remember correctly) esp. in the .Net environment (no managed control, no easy way to get to events, known bugs...).
