Hi there, ODP.NET requires Oracle client 9, not 8. Go to http://otn.oracle.com and search for ODP.NET.

[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jason Penniman Sent: 09/17/2003 18:40 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ADVANCED-DOTNET] Version error using managed OracleProvider We're using the managed Oracle data provider to connect to our Oracle 8i (8.1.7) database. The code works fine in our development environment, but not in production. We get: "System.data.OracleClient.OCI requires client version 8.1.7 or higher." However, this version of the client IS installed. Both our dev and production environments have identical configurations: Windows 2000 server SP2 Oracle Client 8.1.7 .Net Framework 1.0 SP1 Current downloadable release of the managed Oracle provider. We can't find anything on microsoft's sites or news groups that even remotely broach the topic. Has anyone run into this error before? This is a first for us, we have several .Net apps in production connecting to Oracle with the managed provider and no issues.
