Someone I know firmly believes that you can tell what kind of husband a man
will make by the way he treats his mother. No matter what one might try to
say to sway her into common sense, she believes this "old wives' tale".

I guess our own counterpart is to have "Old DBAs' Tales". :) :)

Before anyone takes this too seriously, I'm just teasing. But, I had to
retort to the "DBA recommendation on major sites" jab. I have met many
"professionals" who don't know why they do the things they do. Most things
they do are (luckily?) based on sound principles and concepts, but some
aren't and need to be debunked. 

(Not that I am 100% sure I am right on this issue, and I am open to learning
*I* am the one doing something that I should do otherwise!)
