I did a redirect to a new page and did the download processing there; this was better as I was able to hit Back and go back to the original page. I tried a new window approach using JS but as soon as I say Open it flushes my download file on Parent window and kills my child window! Strange. Dont know anybody has seen this behavior.
And there is no way to disable the Open on a download dialog :(
