Yeah, I just verified this is the case for 2003, unfortunately I'm working
with 2002. I guess I need to get with the times.

After refreshing my memory on this; an easier method is to simply
right-click the solution name in the Solution Explorer and select "Rename",
or select and press 'F2'.

Same works for project names.
