To make login.aspx receive the data, you have to pass some data.

I guess you could get to it via PrevioushHandler.Request.Form - but better
pass it via the Context.Items collection or query strings to login.aspx....

Context.Items["username"] = "yyy";
Context.Items["password"] = "aaa";

Subject: [ADVANCED-DOTNET] Server.Transfer and UserControls

Hi all.

I have a question regarding UserControls.

Part of the site I am building is an area on each page where the user can
log in, thus, I have made this area a UserControl with the textboxes and
button in there so I can display and control it the same on each page.

My idea was that when the form is submitted the data from the controls could
be passed to the login.aspx script from the parent page using
Server.Transfer, this way I can put all the logic for authenticating a user
in login.aspx.

The thing is, when the form is submitted and i do the
Server.Transfer("login.aspx",true) the Page_Load() in login.aspx does not
receive the data from the controls in the UserControl at all.

I'm pretty confused as to whether this can be done, or even if I am doing
things the right way. If anyone has any advice or suggestions on a better
method of processing logins from each page I'm all ears.

Cheers,

Ben
