I think you should also throw in the mix MSMQ. It has a very simple API, you have asynchronous modes available on the receiving side, plus timeout, binary distribution, confirmations, broadcasting (IIRC) and whatnot. The webservices are better in terms of future modifications and cross plafrom support. remoting will not be supported in the near future in the WCF as I heared in one of Microsoft conferences here in Egypt.
