I was referring more to the rest (I am not real familiar with db40).
Saying nhibernate or gentle.net is a viable alternative to a
prevalence layer is like saying that ASP.NET is a viable alternative
to winforms :) Given it can be but you are taking a big architectural
jump.

There was a release of bamboo in late 2005 but from reading it looks
like he has moved on. I also noticed the prevlayer site no longer
works. Perhaps its time to create another open source prevalence
layer?

Look at db4o again.  It is like prevalence.  That's why I listed it
first.  It is much more up to date, plus it is developed in part by the
same author as bamboo prevalence.  I then listed other related
alternatives such as castle's activerecord because, as I mentioned, db4o
costs money if you are not using it in a gpl application.

Again as I said, it hasn't been developed in years.  You'll notice that
codeproject article itself is 3 years old.  That's why I listed some
other alternatives that are still actively maintained.
