You can still work with the dataset the way you are used to. The difference with vs2005 (well, with ado.net 2.0) is that they have exposed more granular functionality as well as made datatables ixmlserializable, which gives datatables many of the same capabilities that were previously only available to the dataset. So in the long run, you just have more options.
