I just realized I posted a new thread with a subject line from an old thread. Please ignore that one. Sorry for the annoyance.
Jon -----Original Message----- I've just install VS 2005 Team Suite on my laptop, but I've been using it on my desktop since it came out and for new development... but I have not upgraded my 2003 projects to 2005 until today. Now I'm upgrading my laptop, which is were I do demo runs of the software. I had not upgraded some of the software that I am to demo next week. But now it's running REALLY slow! On my laptop I have SQL Server 2000 installed... the full thing. Sometimes it sucks up all the available memory (2gig) when I was using 2003 but it didn't seem to be much of a problem. However, something is killing the performance now and it seems to be when I am doing a LOT of database accessing. So I'm wondering if I should just ignore 2005 for now or if I should go ahead and get everything into 2005 before my demo. So now that I have .Net 2005 and the SQL Server Express or Developer version, can I take off SQL Server 2000 without any fear of messing something up? If I uninstalled SQL Server 2000 will it cause any problems with the other versions? Can I use the Express or the developer edition just like the full SQL Sever edition? Any ideas why upgrading from 2003 to 2005 would REALLY slow things down? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
