I need some assistance with understanding application life-cycle management and any best practices associated with it. The software project on which I'm working at the moment is "out in the field" but we are also continually working on it as well. I have some of my own ideas and plans on which to build a more solid foundation for releases and bug fixes/patches. My boss, however, feels that this is too much work and not necessary. I would like some help with either websites or books that would help promote some good practices so that we're not bitten later on and for convincing him of the necessity of managing the life-cycle of the project.
