Green Threads and Native Threads in Java 1.1.8

hi,
I want to know with the default installation and execution of
jre1.1.8 (or any other jre/jdk) , what is used native threads or green
threads ?
And how do I use these options separately.

On specifying -green option for jre, I get an error "Green threads support
not available"
any clues ?
