I do it like this: 1. install oracle client 2. configure the database in file tnsnames 3. open bde administrator and add a new database, select ORACLE in "database driver name". In ServerName put the name of your oracle instance. Remember to name this new database in the BDE administrator, since this will be the name you use to access it in Delphi. 4. now you are ready to add a TDatabase (in the bde tab) in a form. 5. in Alias name in this component type in the name of the database you created in the BDE admin. You also need to fill the DatabaseName property.
