They could also be the borders of the parent control if you have the TImage set 
to 
Alignment := alClient

      TImage is not a visual control by itself so it does not have any own 

visual parameters like 3D borders.

Probably the 3D borders you see are from the image you use, so if you 

want to remove the 3D borders you'll have to use an image editor, remove 

them and then include the image in the TImage.
