“BackHaul Heroes” Video Series Goes Live

Some 56 Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) “Backhaul Heroess” shared
stories about their networks’ backhaul issues with a video camera crew at
WISPAPALOOZA 2012, and the edited videos now are available for viewing on
YouTube <http://www.youtube.com/user/PerformantNetworks/videos?view=0>.

The three-minute videos provide especially colorful examples of what WISPs
regularly have to deal with to deliver, restore and maintain service for
customers.

Users also can view the videos and comment on them at the official Backhaul
Heroes <http://www.backhualheroes.com/> site at Performant Networks, who
filmed and produced the videos for the Wireless Internet Service Provider
Association (WISPA).

The idea behind the “Backhaul Heroes” series was to highlight and promote
the work done by WISPA member operating companies to deliver and maintain
crucial broadband Internet access to citizens and customers living in
remote and “hard to reach” areas. In contrast to established telecom
operators, WISPs are small enterprises with a handful of employees, few
resources, and challenging operating environments.

“We hope WISPA members will be able to use the videos to promote themselves
to customers and partners, as well as enjoy the many entertaining stories
about the challenges and joys of being a WISP,” said WISPA Executive
Director Rick Harnish.

“We appreciate the opportunity to have worked so closely with many WISPs on
this project,” said Performant Networks Vice President Scott Sumner. “We
really got to know them and feel we have become part of their community.
They are inspiring to work with.”
