The idea behind the “Backhaul Heroes” series was to highlight and promote the work done by WISPA member operating companies to deliver and maintain crucial broadband Internet access to citizens and customers living in remote and “hard to reach” areas. In contrast to established telecom operators, WISPs are small enterprises with a handful of employees, few resources, and challenging operating environments. “We hope WISPA members will be able to use the videos to promote themselves to customers and partners, as well as enjoy the many entertaining stories about the challenges and joys of being a WISP,” said WISPA Executive Director Rick Harnish. “We appreciate the opportunity to have worked so closely with many WISPs on this project,” said Performant Networks Vice President Scott Sumner. “We really got to know them and feel we have become part of their community. They are inspiring to work with.” -- About WISPA The Wireless Internet Service Providers Assocation promotes the development, advancement and unification of the wireless Internet service provider industry.
