My company has been evaluating Radius server software for use in large scale
dial-up situations (10,000+ modems). I was not directly involved with this,
and none of those who were had any experience of, much less bias towards,
Perl.

Imagine my surprise when I find out the product chosen for this is a Radius
server written in 100% Perl, sold as a plain and simple commercial product
with (of course) full source, and full support. The code is exceptionally
clear and readable. Needless to say it runs on several platforms, including
Win32.

After brief investigation it does appear that this is one of the best radius
servers around, and although I've not used it, the selection team were
obviously satisfied of its performance and abilities.

It's nice to see something that's a straightforward shrink-wrap application
of considerable size and complexity written in 100% perl, and very
successful into the bargain. Possibly an excellent example for anyone
needing to show that Perl is for more than ad-hoc bits of in-house
scripting.
