Is there something so fundementally different about java
and perl that these companies want to use java for some intrinsic
reason? Is there something (aside from hype) that naturally
draws these companys toward Java, or draws them away from Perl?
Could it be something so simple as shipping .class and .jar files
(which are "opaque") instead of shipping raw perl sources?
Do they like paying for third party libraries instead of
using something like CPAN?
Are they so tied to a closed-source business model that they
flee Perl because it is so aggressively Open Source?
Z.
