I have developed a new web site intended partly to demonstrate the power
and flexibility of object-oriented Perl.
You are invited visit the site at http://www.rice-audio.com.

It is written entirely in Perl, including the server, and it is intended
for eCommerce applications requiring specification
of complex assemblies in addition to simple inventory items. It can
provide expert information to the user to aid in
the selection of component parts. The system includes inventory and
supplier ordering. I will soon expand the
system into a full web-based accounting system.

The National Archives laid off some talented open source software
developers as a result of the Y2K upgrade
projects which were based entirely on commercial software systems. Some
Y2K projects actually turned out
badly and certainly didn't meet requirements but the government still
came down hard on the in-house
software developers.

Thanks,
Bob Rice
