mod_perl can be a resource pig, but then again, so can everything else. I've seen just about every sort of web application bring a system to its knees mostly due to poor design and bad programming. System performance tuning must be considered as well. Benchmarks are generally pretty useless too since system and application variance often skew the results for the objective. So, generally, if it works well for you it doesn't mean it will work well for others. The grass always looks greener where you are when you are flinging poo from your lawn over the fence. e.
