There is a posting on clpm currently without followup on my news spool
referencing US Patent 6,513,153, filed January 28 2003.  It is near
impossible to wade through the thousands of words of legal BS, but I
tend to agree with the original poster that it appears to be asserting
rights over the generic capability provided by the 'use' statement.

Specifically, as near as I can tell, it appears to duplicate the 
functionality of using a particular version of a module, i.e., the

        use Module VERSION

variant.

It seems to me that this deserves an official look.  This is the closest
group to a perl.legal, I think.
