We can cool it here, but the issue remains and it is not as simple as "they have more lawyers so we need to roll over and take it." The issue is to clarify the fundamental principles and find partners who subscribe to them to underwrite our side in the legal battles that will happen with or without Perl and its modules, since this is just one of the many ways to do it. There are plenty of free speech organizations who can step up to the plate to find legislative clarification. For my part, I plan to create some modules that do exactly this and spread them far and wide. Does anyone really think that these modules are gone because CPAN doesn't carry them any more? Nah.
