One of the new features in v13 of the AdWords API is avgSearchVolume and lastMonthSearchVolume fields in the KeywordVariation result object:
http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/developer/KeywordVariation.html (be sure you have v13 selected from the popup) So the keywords returned from getKeywordVaritions() calls will have that data. As for click estimates, you do have to use the TrafficEstiamtorService for that. None of the API methods will give you exact search volume or click counts for a specific date in time, though. Only estimates or averages are available.
