Hello Qmepop, I'm not very familiar with the AdWords API Starter Kit, other than the fact that it's based off of the standard AdWords API Java client library. It also needs to run against v13 of the AdWords API (at least for the time being), so the v2009 samples are not relevant.
It sounds like you're able to get some functionality to work, but then you're running into issues with image ads. Is there a specific error message you're getting? Can you enable logging and post the full SOAP fault response message you receive when the error occurs?
