Hi, My guess is that you are getting an error string from the server, not a GZip report (and hence the error about gzip magic header).
I would recommend you to get the latest version of AdWords API library, it should handle report errors correctly. Also, migrate to v201109, since v201101 is scheduled for sunset in about 2 months.
