Hi everyone, My company is in the process of migrating it's reporting interface from v13 to v201109. We're having a lot of trouble making the migration work because the new Ad Performance report takes away the "effective URL" field that the v13 version used to have, which is very critical to us. I've read through the other posts in this forum, but an still unclear the best approach. Here's our situation:
- Our typical ad group has somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 keywords, and between 2 and 10 ads. - Sometimes these ad groups are running on the search network, sometimes they are running on the content network, sometimes both are enabled at once. - All ads and all keywords have destination URLs. - The way our system is able to identify that entity to attribute the cost to is via the URL. Every URL for every keyword and every ad is unique. By looking at the URL for an ad group running both search and content, for example, we are able to easily determine what cost came from content (and was attributed to the ad's URL) and what costs came from search (and were attributed to the keyword's URL). - The main requirement for our business is that we need reporting on a per keyword/ad combination. We need to know not just how the keywords and ads are doing individually, but what keyword, ad combinations are working the best/worst/etc... Again, this was very easy using the old v13 report. Now that there is no effective URL field, our system fails. At first, my thought was to run BOTH the Ad Performance report and the Destination URL report, and join them together in memory, but then I noticed that while the Ad performance report now has a keyword ID, the destination url report does not. So I'm confused on how to join them. Is there a different report I should use? I'd appreciate any specifics you can offer, because honestly, I'm a bit lost. There seems to be some talk in the forum about joining three separate reports to similar the old v13 reports, but I'm not sure about that approach. One specific question is how do I know if the traffic is from content or search? Will the keywordID be null for content traffic? Is there any other reason why the keywordID would be null? If the keywordID field is not null, and the keyword has a destination URL, is it a guarantee that the keyword's URL is the one that was used? Any other gotchas? Thanks in advance for the help! Joe P.S. There is definitely a lot of chatter in this forum about similar issues, but none with a specific solution, at least that I understood: http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/community/?place=topic%2Fadwords-api%2F0D-eVj4l70U%2Fdiscussion http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/community/?place=topic%2Fadwords-api%2FL7qpd58zd2w%2Fdiscussion -- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Also find us on our blog and discussion group: http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "AdWords API Forum" group.
