As Anash said, there is no way to get the general campaign type from the 
API, but I noticed that there is a new "DisplaySelect" boolean field on 
campaign performance reports which should give us the information we need 
for "search plus display select" campaigns.

Also, I think the change for ad group content bids which was due yesterday 
has nothing to do with this, since it was only for "display network only" 
campaigns. "Search plus" campaigns were launched last november and I have 
been getting the same content bid errors as you in the last weeks.

And Anash, thank you for clearing that up. I had recently looked for 
campaign type in AdWords API (and failed) and it's good to have a 
confirmation.
