Hi all,
I have just started to use the AdWords API and would like to know what
determines the number of results in the result set of a query...
Can changing either the dimensions or the metrics have an impact on the
number of results?
I have noticed that with the following query, if I change the metrics and
keep everything else constant, the number of results returned is different.
Get apiQuery = analytics.data().ga()
.get("ga:" + profileId,
date.toString(Constants.GA_QUERY_DATE_FORMAT),
date.toString(Constants.GA_QUERY_DATE_FORMAT),
"ga:impressions")
.setDimensions("ga:adwordsAdGroupID,ga:adwordsCriteriaID,ga:campaign,ga:adGroup,ga:keyword,ga:adKeywordMatchType,ga:adDestinationUrl")
.setSort("ga:campaign,ga:adwordsAdGroupID,ga:adwordsCriteriaID,ga:keyword,ga:adKeywordMatchType")
.setFilters("ga:medium==cpc")
.setSamplingLevel("HIGHER_PRECISION")
.setMaxResults(1000000)
.setStartIndex(page);
E.g. if I change the ga:impressions metric to ga:visits, the number of
results returned reduces significantly.
Why does this happen? I would expect changing the metrics to have no affect
on the number of results....
(Note: none of my responses contain sampled data)
I thought perhaps it could happen if all the metrics have zero values, the
row is not returned... but this is not the case since there are some all
zero results.
Thanks for any help,
Josh
