Hi Mike - OK that makes sense...

Is there any way I can determine this restriction prior to attempting the 
update, else I'm repeating the same update request each day?

I know I could keep an audit log of failed updates and exclude objects from 
future updates (assuming I can reliably distinguish between transient and 
permanent errors), but the sheer volume of criterion objects we process 
each day may make this approach nonviable.
