Hi,

There are different types of automated bidding. You may want to check out 
our bidding guide 
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/bidding>, which 
includes the *Descriptive name* you'll see in the user interface for each 
bidding strategy type.

One strategy you could use is TARGET_SPEND, which appears as *Maximize 
clicks* in the user interface. With this strategy, you can set up a 
TargetSpendBiddingScheme 
<https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201506/BiddingStrategyService.TargetSpendBiddingScheme>
 with 
a *bidCeiling* and *spendTarget*.
