I would also strongly recommend that you check out our Accounts/Campaigns/Ads guides accesible through their respective tabs in this link <https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/guides/start> for more information regarding the functions available to the AdWords API and the corresponding report types associated to each topic for ease of tracking of their statistics.
