Unfortunately, it's currently not possible to segment the data by month.
The historical metrics will only return the average monthly searches for
the past 12 months.

The client is written in Java btw. I did follow documentation to create
keyword plan > campain > ad group > keywords before calling
GenerateHistoricalMetrics and I don't see any config in the API that lets
you specify period for historical metrics and monthly aggregation.
We've been using the Adwords API version v201806 for search volumes for a
while until it broke recently with an UNSUPPORTED_VERSION error. We really
need to restore this service to function as before. Any helps will be
greatly appreciated!
