When using the API with the TargetingIdeaService and using the "STATS" mode, if the exact result could not be returned the API would return the similar phrases as you have seen "plumbing jobs" instead of “plumber jobs”. If you would like to have the API return the exact keyword you passed in, you could refer to this thread which deals with a similar issue. Please let me know if you have any further concerns.
