Preconditions
 The conditions for all fellowships withthe exception of the curator fellowship 
are a completed course of study inart (MFA or comparable degree) and two to 
three years (depending onthe respective fellowship) of continuous artistic work 
after the conclusionof the studies until the beginning of the fellowship. 
Applications are alsopossible for autodidacts distinguished by special artistic 
achievements, asdocumented by exhibitions and prizes.

 To foster artistic dialogand interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge of 
German or English isexpected.

 

 II. International curator fellowship 
 To foster dialogbetween artistic work and theoretical reflection, Balmoral 
awards aresidential curator fellowship to a fellow in the humanities 
(preferablyart history). The curator fellowship is awarded to persons whose 
universitydegree (at least MA) was completed not more than 5 years ago. For 
thecurator fellowship, mastery of the German language spoken and in writing 
aswell as good knowledge of English is essential.
 
 The fellowshiplasts nine months and begins in June 2017. It is endowed with 
1,400EUR per month and includes free accommodation in the KuenstlerhausSchloss 
Balmoral.
  

 III. Project, foreign andexchange fellowships exclusively for artists with 
relation toRhineland-Palatinate
 Relation to Rhineland-Palatinate means(and/or) is born in, has studied fine 
arts with graduation in, lives in orworks in Rhineland-Palatinate.
 
 –Two 6-month projectfellowships (not tied to any site)
 –One 6-month fellowship forNew York (Residency Unlimited)
 –One 3-month fellowship forSouth Korea (MMCA Residency Goyang)
 –Two 6-month fellowshipsfor the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris
 –One 5-monthfellowship for Kuenstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf, 
Brandenburg/Germany

 Attention: From 2015 on, artists with relation toRhineland-Palatinate can 
apply three times for each state fellowship,meaning three times for a project 
fellowship, three times for a fellowshipin Paris etc. (past applications 
included).
 
 The project,foreign and exchange fellowships are endowed with 1,200 EUR per 
month(except for South Korea).

 
 Awarding offellowships
 A jury of specialists will award all fellowships,taking into consideration the 
developmental potential of theapplicant’s artistic or theoretical work.
