There is no reason to study the following, but if those of you who are baffled by ostensible idiosyncracies in the archive system read this you'll sense there is actually method to it. Here's the reason for that: - Most From: headers look something like this: From: Michael Brady <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ... where "Michael Brady" is his real name, and his email address is shown inside the brackets. The archive software specifically DOES NOT publish actual email addresses in the archive, to prevent them from being harvested from the archive by spammers. That's a Good Thing. Instead they publish the Real Name as the author. - But what if the From: header doesn't have a Real Name? Yours for example looks like this: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... well, apparently the archive software is 'smart' enough to realize that aol software doesn't include a "Real Name" (or most aolers don't use it). So they just strip off the @aol.com and use the result as the author's name. - Which brings me to burningthrone. His From: header is: From: "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ... so his email address is included in the "Real Name" field, in quotes. So the archive publishes "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" instead. I mention this in order to point out that Chris's messages in the archive will be hard or impossible to identify, and finding his messages in the archive later will be nearly impossible. A search for "burningthrone" today turns up not hing. Chris should either publish a real name in his From: header, or sign every post with a consistent unique signature.
