One of the higher brain functions which occur outside the language center is
pattern recognition/manipulation. Dancing, music and artistic design can be
thought of as primarily involving pattern development or manipulation.
Most of the time we can construct a linguistic interpretation of our
awareness of patterns. However, it is my opinion that most of the time,
what we mean by "intuition" is that we believe something to be true because
we are aware (or believe we are aware) of a pattern or partial pattern about
which we are unable to describe in words.
