One of the things I find so fascinating about Goya is the way he leaves you hanging in a disturbing state of indecision. Is the head of that character on the right a skull, or is it just an emaciated head that looks very skull-like? Imagine trying to talk sensibly about this work in terms of notions like beauty, harmony,elegance, grace, etc (a definition of art I read not long ago from a leading analytic aesthetician...)
