I read the item Aesthete refers to. What amazed me
were the spam ads embedded into the very text of the
silly little essay on abstraction. Is there any end
to the creeping infection of commercialism? Maybe
artist and writers should make deals to "brand" their
work with ads. The movies have been doing that for
100 years. Maybe preachers should learn the trick,
too. What a market opportunity....ads mixed in with
Bible talk!

It's a delusion to think that art can rise above
commerce or that any space remains for discourse and
expression, for beliefs or intellectual inquiry that
is free from the infection of material consumerism.
Nothing, not even God, remains free from branding.
Commerce trumps everything. Hell wins.
