Art appreciation does seem to be something that's often passed down through
generations -- although Miller Sr. jump-started his own -- i.e. his parents'
idea of beauty would have been a field of healthy corn or a simple, clean
country church.

He seems to have picked it up at college -- although he would have been quick
to remind you that it was an unaccredited college at that time (Olivet,
Michigan) -- and many of it's  teachers held no degrees -- including the
teacher who made him a sculptor, Milton Horn, who never graduated high
school.
