I came across the recently announced shortlist for the Turner prize (here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/gallery/2008/sep/29/turner.prize.tate?picture=338081966), and find myself somewhat disappointed. Even when allowing for the fact that one of the artists works with film, and hence one cannot get a feel from stills of her work, I found only one piece by Goshka Macuga [whom I am embarrassed to say I have never before encountered] captured my attention. But I am still not sure about it. Has anyone else seen the work of these artists? Can someone clarfiy how they were shortlisted?
